Q: Can I try out Collectify before buying it?
A: Certainly. You can download a free 30-day trial version of Collectify, or order a trial CD - some shipping and handling charges apply.
Q: How can I import images of my objects into Collectify?
A: It's easy. Digital cameras and scanners are the two most common ways to create digital images. Scanners can be used to create a digital image of a drawing, photograph or work of art. Digital cameras take digital pictures that you can download to your computer. Collectify works directly with these devices: simply plug in your digital camera or scanner and click the Scan Media button in Collectify. Collectify can handle virtually any image in almost any format. The image can be downloaded from a scanner or digital camera, or it can be stored in a digital file on your hard disk, a floppy disk, zip disk, CD-ROM, or even in an email attachment.
Q: Where is the Save button in Collectify/?
A: There isn't any, because Collectify automatically saves your changes as you work. Whenever you make changes in Collectify, such as adding a new object or updating an address for a contact, that information is immediately recorded to your computer's hard disk. Should your computer suddenly turn off (due to a power failure, for example), all the changes you have made in your collection will be saved, except perhaps for those made in the few seconds before the computer turned off.
Q: Why do I need collection management software?
A: Take this test: Look around your home. Are you a collector? Stuff everywhere? Why don't you sit down and in your head compose a list of some of your collectibles. When you're done, go through your home and see what you've missed. With Collectify you'll always know what you have, where you keep it, how much it's worth, the condition it's in... the list goes on, but then again, that all depends on you. Simply list your objects or create a detailed database that contains everything from the providence of the object to its location in your home to shipping bills related to its restoration... Collectify lets you become a seasoned curator to all your stuff.
Q: Can I use the data that I have already started entering into a spreadsheet in Collectify?
A: In creating this software, many things were taken into consideration, one of the most important being that a collector cannot start from scratch every time a new product comes onto the market. We've met that challenge and created a means for collectors who've begun to catalog stuff in Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, Database files or Text file. Simply use our Import Wizard to map all the data right into Collectify.
Q: How do I personalize what appears in my Collection Types and the fields I want to include in a Collection Type?
A: On the menu bar located at the top right corner of the software is a tools drop-down. The first two items that appear are the Collection Type Manager and the Custom Fields.
Q: How do I customize the New Object Wizard?
A: Looking at the Collection Type Editor you'll notice going down vertically down the different modules concerning the object that a collector can personalize. The second saying "New Object" allows you to personalize exactly what you want the wizard to prompt you to fill in for the specific Collection Type you selected (either through creating a new Collection type or editing a Collectify one) in the last step.
