Dear Collectify,
I once heard Barbara Rosa, a notable art critic, speak about collecting. She commented that while moving from her residence of many years to a new apartment, she had decided to make handwritten lists of the many, many things she had accumulated. Barbara discovered she had over 13 unique collections! They ranged from her contemporary paintings to her collection of Kimonos and Bakelite hair combs. She found a certain self-satisfaction in quantifying the diversity of her interests as well as realizing the worth of it all - having it cataloged allowed her to determine it's value.
It has been about 12 years since hearing Barbara discuss her discoveries and I have wanted to do the same ever since. I am sure I have acquired varied treasures with equal enthusiasm. Collectify, with it's predetermined, yet flexible, input forms and the reach of the detailed questions asked, has me on the path to full enlightenment! The simple, easy to negotiate layouts, the cataloging and indexing functions, the cross-reference tools, the easy to access insurance and valuation information, the ease of adding digital photos - what depth! What encouragement to catalog! What inspiration to collect more!
