It seemed that the only thing to do was to go ahead and build something that would make collectors of all sorts of stuff very very happy. Enter Patrick Bougie - a software designer with an amazing computer-side manner and a talent for making databases interrelate.

By 1999, 44% of all online users, roughly 145 million people, had regularly made purchases from online auctions. Expert services previously only offered locally by appraisers, insurance companies, galleries and dealers have increasingly become available online. While interest in other forms of e-business temporarily wanes, growing numbers of collectors flock to the Web to buy, sell, trade, discuss, learn about and care for their stuff.
